Focus and Scope
Ruang Berdampak: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (R-BEDA) publishes original scholarly articles on community engagement, empowerment, mentoring, training, and the application of knowledge and technology. The journal provides a multidisciplinary publication platform for programs developed collaboratively by higher education institutions, communities, government agencies, businesses, and other relevant stakeholders.
Distinctive Focus
The distinctiveness of R-BEDA lies in its impact-oriented approach to community engagement. In line with the meaning of “Ruang Berdampak”, the journal serves as a publication space for programs that move beyond reporting activities and demonstrate meaningful benefits for community partners.
Articles published in R-BEDA should present evidence of changes resulting from the program. These changes may involve community knowledge, skills, attitudes, behavior, institutional capacity, productivity, services, income, well-being, environmental quality, or quality of life.
The journal particularly prioritizes community engagement programs that demonstrate:
- Community partners’ active participation in identifying needs, planning, implementation, or evaluation.
- Solutions developed according to the community’s actual problems and local context.
- Integration of scientific knowledge, appropriate technology, social innovation, or local wisdom.
- Verifiable outputs, outcomes, and benefits for community partners.
- Opportunities for sustainability, independent continuation, replication, or broader application.
- Reflection on program limitations and lessons that can inform future community engagement practices.
R-BEDA welcomes multidisciplinary community engagement articles in the following general areas:
- Education, literacy, and community capacity development.
- Public health, nutrition, and community well-being.
- Creative economy, entrepreneurship, and MSME development.
- Appropriate technology and digital transformation.
- Agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food security.
- Environmental protection, disaster resilience, and sustainable development.
- Social, cultural, religious, and local wisdom initiatives.
- Law, governance, and public service improvement.
- Community empowerment and institutional capacity building.
- Rural, coastal, urban, and regional development.
Article Characteristics
Submitted articles must clearly describe the community or institutional partner, identified problems and needs, program objectives, implementation methods, forms of partner participation, and evaluation procedures. Authors must also present evidence of program outputs, outcomes, community benefits, and prospects for sustainability or follow-up.
Evidence of impact may be demonstrated through appropriate quantitative or qualitative information, including changes in indicators, observations, assessments, documentation, participant experiences, partner feedback, or other forms of evidence relevant to the program.
R-BEDA accepts original community engagement articles that have not been published previously and are not under consideration by another journal. The journal does not accept purely theoretical articles, conventional research articles without practical community implementation, or descriptive activity reports that do not present partner participation, systematic evaluation, and evidence of impact.
